Australian War Artist

Amber Martin is a self taught artist who works from her home in western New South Wales.

 

Her career as an Australian War Artist began in early late 2009 when she began painting scenes of the Australian Defence Force as a way of self expression and the wanting to re-list back into the Australian Army. Having had spent a few years parading unofficially with an Army Reserve unit and a short time in the Australian Regular Army, it was those life experiences and inspiration that led her to become an accredited Australian War Artist through the International Society of War Artists.

 

 

"Our troops who are on front line operations, are often forgotten in the media and through my art I am passionate about documenting their efforts through this traditional medium. Through my own eyes , I have created a visual account of these impacts of war; painting our men and women's experiences whilst on deployment, at rest, on exercise, the unfortunate wounded and also to honour those who have made the ultimate sacrifice..."
